Saturday State Sports Briefs: Madison police looking for video of attack on Ball

Wisconsin Sports
-- If you have video of the attack on Wisconsin Badger running back Montee Ball, Madison police are hoping you will step forward. Police say that video could be very helpful in their investigation into the attack on University Avenue early Wednesday morning.

MADISON - If you have video of the attack on University of Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, Madison police are hoping you will step forward. Police say that video could be very helpful in their investigation into the attack on University Avenue early Wednesday morning.

Surveillance videos from the area weren’t much help. One witness to the attack told the online news site TMZ.com an attacker made the comment, “One down, nine to go.” The would seem to indicate others could be targeted. TMZ says Ball and some other Badger players had beaten a non-football player about a week before the attack on the Heisman Trophy candidate. However, Ball again took to his Twitter account to deny the accusation.

At the Olympics, Stevens Point native Lauren Sesselmann helped her Canadian soccer team advance to the women’s semi-finals, with a 2-0 victory over Great Britain this afternoon. Sesselmann played the entire 90-minutes for Team Canada. She made one shot, and was fouled. Canada will now play the United States in Sunday’s semi-finals. The Americans eliminated New Zealand today, also 2-0. France and Japan will play in Sunday’s other semifinal.
