ST. PAUL - A third teenager has died as the result of a rear-end Interstate crash near Hudson eight days ago.
17-year-old Zachary Zajec of New Richmond died yesterday at Regions Hospital. He suffered head, chest, and other injuries when he slammed his SUV into the rear of a semi-truck last Monday on I-94 east of Hudson.
It happened while traffic was getting backed up near a construction zone. Two of Zajec’s passengers died soon after the mishap – 16-year-old Jordan Johnson, and 17-year-old Joshua Goodrich. A fourth teen escaped with non-life-threatening injuries. All four were students at New Richmond High School.
