The proposal, presented by the Ellsworth 150th Birthday Committee, was recommended by the village’s park, recreation and development committee. It calls for new planters and fencing to be installed on the edges and entrances of the park, particularly along the Hwy. 10-63 side, and for new light poles to be installed as well.
Other committee recommendations which were approved by the full board include a plan commission recommendation for a special use permit to B.J. Holding Company to allow residential use in the upper level of the building at 358 Main St. in a commercial district. Trustees also allowed the village library board to establish a building/space committee to look at possible expansion and/or renovation of the library building and allowed this committee to use library impact fees. Members took no action on establishing a cross connection program meter as recommended by the water and sewer committee.
The full board will take up a health, license and welfare committee recommendation to amend village ordinances to require all applications for alcohol/beer, dancing and premise extension requests to be filled with the village clerk 15 days prior to board action.
The full board also adopted an ordinance to amend village code on the discharge and carrying of firearms and guns. Trustees set the September meeting to Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. and referred a proposal on impact fees to the plan commission and parks, recreation and development committee. They also approved sending a water meter from 120 Piety St. at the Ronald Place property for testing due to high water readings.
The board went into closed session. They took no action after discussion on the former Pamida building, but did approve giving Village President Gerald DeWolfe the authority to sign a developer’s agreement with PC Meats for property in the East End Industrial Park.
