Spring Valley looks to replace large senior class

Spring Valley High School has nine returning lettermen for its 2012 football team but head coach Matt Ducklow thinks there's a better way to determine true prep football experience.

SPRING VALLEY - Spring Valley High School has nine returning lettermen for its 2012 football team but head coach Matt Ducklow thinks there's a better way to determine true prep football experience.

"Of all the players on our roster, only five have played a full varsity football game from start to finish," Ducklow said. "Until a player has that experience it's hard to judge what he can do for the team."

The Cardinals lack of such experience stems form the fact they graduated 10 seniors from last season's 9-3 ballclub which went 4-2 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference and made it to Level 3 in the playoffs, their deepest runs since 2003.
