Together Tuesdays coming to East End Park

In conjunction with the Ellsworth Farmer’s Market, the local chamber of commerce has organized “Together Tuesdays” as a way to bring families and friends together, while enjoying the outdoors and supporting local vendors.

In conjunction with the Ellsworth Farmer’s Market, the local chamber of commerce has organized “Together Tuesdays” as a way to bring families and friends together, while enjoying the outdoors and supporting local vendors.

The farmer’s market is held every Tuesday, from now through September, from 3-6:30 p.m. at East End Park.

With the first Tuesday in August already having featured National Night Out, the chamber-organized events were to begin this week with “Hip to the Hoop” Hula Fitness. Visitors could try hula-hooping and adults could purchase specialized weighted hoops designed for effective exercise. Hoops were also to be available for children to try.

Dawn Robinson of Hip to the Hoop from Durand was to demonstrate hoop fitness and dance techniques, and also host a workshop for those interested.

Next Tuesday features “Dazzling Dave,” yo-yo extraordinaire! His performance begins at 5:30 p.m. (bring blankets and lawn chairs), followed by one-on-one instruction for those who want to try yo-yoing at home. Yo-yos will be available for purchase, ranging in cost from $7-20.

Dave will also offer a workshop--with yo-yos provided for use--if there’s enough interest (pre-registration required). To register for the workshop, contact the chamber office.

Bring the kids out Aug. 28! The Ellsworth Public Library has scheduled the “Okee Dokee Brothers” for a musical performance beginning at 6:30 p.m. (bring blankets and lawn chairs). From 4-7 p.m., Pickles the Clown will delight with her balloon animals. A bounce house and face-painting will also be featured, free of charge!

In September, there will be another line-up, including the Under the Harvest Moon Celebration on the 11th and a presentation by Louise Kurzeka of Everything’s Together on the 18th. Visit the chamber website for more details or to register for a class: www.ellsworthchamber.com/together-tuesdays.html.

Together Tuesdays was made possible by a Neighborhood Health Connection grant from Allina Health Systems.
