Lorin Bloomstrand of Bay City hasn’t had a need for blood himself, but he knows someone who has.

Bloomstrand’s great-nephew, 18-year-old Jordan, was found to have a tumor and ultimately underwent surgery in the Twin Cities. The patient’s great-uncle understood last week the tumor proved to be hard and surgeons couldn’t get all of it.

“He spent over 100 days in the hospital,” Bloomstrand said Wednesday, adding his young relative was able to come home in time for a benefit on his behalf, which the family reports was successful.
