MADISON - University of Wisconsin running back Montee Ball appears to be recovering faster than expected from the concussion and facial injuries he suffered when he was assaulted nine days ago.
Badgers’ coach Bret Bielema said on Sirius-XM Satellite Radio today that Ball would practice in half-pads this afternoon – and he’ll get full clearance to return in a couple of days. The day after the assault, Bielema said it would take almost a month for Ball to fully recover, after five men jumped him at 2:15 in the morning on a Madison campus street. That was less than a week after a fight in which at least several UW players were involved.
There have been reports that Ball was involved in that brawl – and the August first attack appeared to be retaliation. But Ball has denied it, and Madison Police have said they have no evidence of it. Both incidents remain under investigation.
