Edwards wins first Nationwide race this season

-- Carl Edwards has started just one Nationwide Series race this season – and he won it. Edwards took the lead on a restart with 10 laps to go in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen yesterday.

WATKINS GLEN N.Y. - Carl Edwards has started just one Nationwide Series race this season – and he won it. Edwards took the lead on a restart with 10 laps to go in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen yesterday.

Edwards held of Brad Keselowski. Eau Claire driver Paul Menard finished eighth, but Beloit’s Danica Patrick was knocked out in the second lap by an accident and finished dead last.

Juan Montoya starts on the pole for the Finger Lakes 355 at Watkins Glen today, the second straight race he has claimed the top position. Kyle Busch starts number-two. Paul Menard has the best starting position for a Wisconsin driver, taking off 22nd. Cambridge native Matt Kenseth starts 24th in a race which sees him trailing by five points in the season standings to Dale Earnhardt Jr.
