(Minneapolis, MN) -- University of Minnesota football head coach Jerry Kill announced yesterday that redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Jimmy Gjere is ending his football career due to the return of concussion-like symptoms.
Gjere, who played high school football at Irondale, suffered a concussion October 1st of last year in a game against Michigan which forced him to miss the remainder of last season.
The loss of Gjere is a blow to the Gopher program as he was a prized recruit for the U and part of a group of young but talented linemen on offense.
