Derby winners include Peterson, Posey and Clemens

There were three champions of the 45th annual Ellsworth Funster Demolition Derby held Saturday evening at the Pierce County fairgrounds in Ellsworth.

There were three champions of the 45th annual Ellsworth Funster Demolition Derby held Saturday evening at the Pierce County fairgrounds in Ellsworth.

The old stock car division was split in two and the new divisions were modified and classic. Veteran derby participant Victor Peterson of Hager City won the stock classic division with his No. 24 car followed by No. 10 Max Peterson, also of Hager City; No. 18 Troy Owen of River Falls and No. 54 Jim Zeitz of Menomonie.

Peterson was the only local winner of the derby competition. Drivers came from far and wide to participate. Winning the new modified stock division was Barry Clemens of Dane, which is located just outside of Madison. His No. 79 car took first followed by No. 8 Tyler Matthews of Hager City No. 19 Caleb Beebe of, Ellsworth; No. 28 Mark Spiess of Menomonie and No. 17 Stacie Peterson of Ellsworth.

Dereck Posey of Amery won the compact division with his “D” car. Fellow Ameryian Jim Linder finished second with his No. 99 vehicle. After them were car “B” driven by Tracy Miller of Eau Galle; car “GG” driven by Jonathan Dohrer of Ellsworth and car “F” driven by Brett Freier of Ellsworth.
