Green tore an ACL last season and had knee re-constructive surgery. The Packers are short on running backs and fullbacks, and at least four of them won’t play tonight due to injuries – John Kuhn, James Starks, Jon Hoese, and Du’ane Bennett. The newly-signed Cedric Benson is not likely to play, either. He joined the team on Monday, and he was not allowed to practice in pads – so he has not had a lot of physical contact yet.
Meanwhile, on the offensive line, seventh-round draft pick Andrew Datko is expected to get a long audition tonight. Undrafted guard Don Barclay and reserve center Sampson Genus will also try to keep making their cases to win roster spots.
