Diary in wall of Plum City home reunited with its author

Bill Herbison worked the past few months to track down Dorothy (Ring) Sandnes as the writer of the diary Mark and Jill Bishop found in a wall of Sandnes' former Plum City home

PLUM CITY—Dear Diary: Where have you been for all of these years? It’s good to be reading you again.

Dorothy (Ring) Sandnes could have easily written those words when she recently learned a diary she authored as a youth was found by the latest owners of a house her family once occupied. The octogenarian who presently lives in Minneapolis had long forgotten about the diary, until Mark and Jill Bishop, along with genealogy enthusiast Bill Herbison, all of Plum City, stepped in.

Sandnes’ cousin had told her Herbison worked the past few months to track her down as the writer of the diary the Bishops found in a wall of her former home, the genealogist said Thursday.
