Valley runners ready for more success and more fun this fall

There's a new challenge for the Spring Valley High School cross country team, one quite different than it had nearly a decade ago.

SPRING VALLEY - There's a new challenge for the Spring Valley High School cross country team, one quite different than it had nearly a decade ago.

Back then it was just a matter of fielding a team itself. There's no need to worry about that now in 2012. The Cardinals have one their biggest squads ever, with over 37 kids out (18 boys and 19 girls). They don't have to worry about experience because the return nine letter winners on the boys' team and 11 on the girls. Nor do they have to worry about finding success as the girls' team won the sectional title last fall, becoming the first girls' team ever to do so in Spring Valley High School history.

No, what SV has to ponder is how they can handle this bundle of riches together without losing its balance, without losing sight of the meaning.
