GREEN BAY - Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy says wide receiver Greg Jennings may be able to return to the practice field today.
Jennings has been sidelined since he suffered a concussion during the team’s August 3rd Family Night scrimmage at Lambeau Field. McCarthy says Jennings has progressed through the protocol for returning from head injuries and is thought to be very close to returning. McCarthy also said linebacker Desmond Bishop had surgery on his right hamstring yesterday. The injury suffered in Green Bay’s first preseason game may have ended the standout defender’s season.
The Milwaukee Admirals won’t enjoy too much home-cooking at the start of the upcoming American Hockey League season. Fourteen of the Admirals’ first 18 games are on the road, starting with an October 12th contest at Grand Rapids. The team’s schedule was released yesterday. The first home game is October 19th against Charlotte. From November 10th through the 25th, the Admirals will embark on a marathon seven-game road trip. Milwaukee plays 16 games on Fridays this season.
Former Wisconsin-Green Bay standout Julie Wojta has been waived by the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA. Wojta was picked by the Lynx in the second round of this year’s draft, then was waived at the end of the training camp. She signed a seven-day contract July 10, appearing in just one game, grabbing two rebounds in four minutes of play against Tulsa July 12. The transaction was completed yesterday just before the Lynx took on the Washington Mystics after a month-long break for the Olympics.
