HUDSON -- Lightning is being blamed for a Saturday night fire which destroyed two homes in Hudson. Police and firefighters were called to a four-unit townhouse a little before 10 p.m. A neighbor had reported smoke coming from one of the units.

That same neighbor alerted the people living there because they weren’t aware of the problem. More than 60 firefighters spent more than four hours on the scene. No injuries were reported, though two firefighters had to be treated for exhaustion.

The fire was reported in 1504 Hunter Hill Road in Hudson's Stonepine Ninth addition, near the YMCA off Vine Street at 9:57 p.m. and crews found fire in the attic of the four-unit multi-family structure.

St. Croix County land records indicate the unit where the fire was originally reported is owned by Sharon Tepper.

Twin Cities Fire Wire.com reported that Hudson fire crews used an aerial ladder to open the roof and fight the fire from above.

Also on-scene were firefighters from the town of St. Joseph, Roberts-Warren and River Falls and Bayport and Lower St. Croix Valley from Minnesota. St. Croix EMS and River Falls EMS provided rehabilitation and medical service.
