MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota head football coach Jerry Kill continues to put his team through training camp. The Golden Gophers open the season a week from tonight at Nevada-Las Vegas.

Kill says competition at each position is greater this year than it was last year. He feels the team has generally gotten stronger and faster since a year ago.

Kill says the competition for starting spots is fun to watch and evaluate. He says just about the time you think someone has locked up a spot, another player jumps up and gets into contention. He says that competition among teammates is a healthy thing to have in training camp.
