Zoe Communications has announced that it signed a letter of intent to acquire WIXK-AM in New Richmond from Hubbard Broadcasting Inc. on Aug. 8.
According to a press release, Zoe Communications and Hubbard Broadcasting agreed to a local marketing agreement which took effect Aug. 13 and is expected to close in early 2013.
“For the past 10 years, Hubbard Broadcasting has enjoyed our relationship with our listeners and advertisers in western Wisconsin,” said Ginny Morris, chair of Hubbard Radio. “But as we expand our radio footprint in major markets throughout the U.S., we felt it was the right time to pass along this wonderful New Richmond radio station to a broadcaster who is focused on western Wisconsin.”
Zoe Communications recently signed on to WDMO 95.7 FM. The WIXK acquisition and WDMO will serve to create a strong local AM/FM combo.
“This is a big day for Zoe Communications,” said Mike Oberg, president and owner of Zoe Communications. “We recently signed on WDMO at 95.7 FM so we believe this will be a great AM/FM combo for New Richmond and the St. Croix River Valley.”
Zoe Communications will retain the WIXK broadcast facility, located in downtown New Richmond, and move WDMO into that building as well, according to the press release.
The press release also states that the company expects to keep all full-time employees that are currently employed at WIXK-AM.
