Ellsworth educator made principal where his education began

John Groh has succeeded the retiring Leona Johnson as Hillcrest Elementary School Principal.

John Groh’s firsts in education have occurred in the Ellsworth School District.

The Mankato, Minn., native entered public school in kindergarten at Prairie View Elementary when his family moved to this area in 1977, he said Thursday. His first regular teaching job was at Ellsworth Middle School when it opened in 1996. And his first position as a school administrator comes this term, as he’s succeeded the retiring Leona Johnson as Hillcrest Elementary Principal.
