A Spring Valley woman was charged Monday in Pierce County Circuit Court with two counts of felony child abuse.

Tracy L. Blair, 41, N8186 Hwy. 128, had a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday of this week on alleged charges she hit three children with cornstalks.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the residence on Aug. 17, where one of the three children explained they followed Blair out of concern as she left the house drunk and riding a bicycle.

Another one of the children obtained the bicycle and took it home. The children then regrouped and followed her on foot until Blair got to a cornfield. She took off and the kids followed.

Upon emerging, Blair ripped a cornstalk from the ground and swung it at the children, screaming at them to get away from her. They refused, and she swung it back and forth, striking them and missing them several times. None of the children needed medical attention.
