Colbenson, Valley win SCC Invitational

Breanna Colbenson won the individual title and she joined with her Spring Valley High School teammates to win the girls' team title at the St. Croix Central Invitational Thursday.

HAMMOND - Breanna Colbenson won the individual title and she joined with her Spring Valley High School teammates to win the girls' team title at the St. Croix Central Invitational Thursday.

Colbenson won the race in 14:59.53. Spring Valley as a team finished first with 59 points with the Cardinals' Riley Bowman placing ninth, Elizabeth Anderson 12th, Sara King 17th, Emma Gaustad 24th, Sophie Koch 29th and Jacquelin Dieckman 51st.

Prescott's Victoria Simones finished second in 16:32 and PHS finished fourth as a team out of 14 schools. EPC finished 10th led by McKayla Brunner's 16th place in 17:57.

Spring Valley's boys' team had one of its best finishes in recent years by placing third led by Lance Snyder's 11th place finish. EPC's Noah Wells was 16th and Prescott's top runner, Nick Strandine, finished 25th.

PHS finished 13th, still running without MBC champ Cole Hauenstein while EPC was incomplete.
