TO THE EDITOR: Modern day politics remind me of when I was a youngster back in the 50’s and 60’s.
I used to sit and watch All Star Wrestling with my dad. Vern Gagne, Mad Dog, The Bruiser, The Claw, the list goes on and on.
After my son got a little older, I would take him to matches at the St. Paul Auditorium or at the high school in Prescott. Those guys would just tear each other apart, verbally and physically. Just ruthless, and if anybody went over the top rope, they were disqualified.
The difference with politicians is that if they go over the top, they say the media misquoted them, or it was taken out of context.
One thing that is the same, after all the verbal and physical abuse that is handed out in the arena, they would always ride home together and discuss what a great show they put on for the audience.
After the November election, all the bad, slanderous remarks and the accusations, the “everything is going to go to hell in a hand basket” attitudes in the political arena will all change to “let’s all come together for the greater good” and then they will all ride home, back to D.C., together. All this will be repeated at the next arena or show for the audience.
Just a word to the wise, don’t be so interested in what the politicians “tell you,” be more interested in if they listen to what you “tell them.”
