RICHMOND, Va. - The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will hold its final race tomorrow night before the 10-event title series begins a week from now.
Matt Kenseth of Cambridge has long secured his spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The 2003 series champion is third in the point standings, as he wraps up the year with Roush Fenway Racing. Kenseth said this week he would join Joe Gibbs Racing next year, and drive the No. 20 car. That’s three numbers higher than the tag on his current ride.
Paul Menard of Eau Claire and Travis Kvapil of Janesville are also entered for tomorrow night’s Federated Auto Parts-400 in Richmond.
The Nationwide Series drivers are also in Richmond for tonight’s running of the Virginia College Savings-250. Beloit-born Danica Patrick is entered. She’s 10th in the point totals in NASCAR’s Number-two series. The Camping World Truck Series is off until next weekend.
