NR Invitational is Spring Valley's second straight win
Spring Valley High School's girls' cross country team won their second straight invitational meet Thursday.
NEW RICHMOND - Spring Valley High School's girls' cross country team won their second straight invitational meet Thursday.
The Cardinals, ranked No. 16 in the state in Division 3, took first in the New Richmond Invitational with 63 points, 20 better than runner up North St. Paul High School and 30 points better than Rice Lake.
All five of SV's scoring runners finished in the top 20 led by Breanna Colbenson's 4000-meter race win. Teammate Riley Bowman was 13th followed by Sara King 16th, Elizabeth Anderson 17th and Emma Gaustad 20th.
Prescott finished eighth out the 14 schools led by Victoria Simones' fourth place showing. Ellsworth was ninth with Kennedy Kowalchyk having the Panthers' best place in 31st while EPC was incomplete. The top EPC placer was freshman Libby Feuker in 51st place.
Ellsworth's boys team had the county's best effort at NR as they finished third behind N. St. Paul and the host Tigers. Lucas Green and Caleb Gustafson finished 12th and 13th to lead the Panthers while James Jean took 16th, Mason Engnes 35th and Tyler Marson 38th.
Spring Valley's boys' had another solid outing, taking sixth led by Lance Snyder's 19th place finish. EPC finished 12th with Noah Wells finishing 30th individually and Prescott was 14th led by Troy urman's 39th place.
Prescott, EPC and Spring Valley will compete at Prescott's invitational meet Tuesday while Ellsworth will be in Rice Lake.
