BALSAM LAKE - A Minnesota woman now faces both state-and-federal charges for allegedly committing a bank robbery in northwest Wisconsin six days ago.
39-year-old Tanya Anderson of Stanchfield has been indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of bank robbery. That was after she was charged in state court in Polk County with armed robbery. The hold-up occurred last Friday at the Eagle Valley Bank in Saint Croix Falls. Police said it was easy to find the suspect soon after the heist – because she was still wearing a bright yellow highway safety vest that she wore to the bank. In searching her car, police said they found $4,800 and a note which read, quote, “This is a robbery. I have a gun. Put large untraceable bills on counter. Do it now, or die.”
A Polk County judge ordered a $50,000 in Anderson’s state case. She’s due back there a week from today, when the judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to order a trial.
