Former Governor Jesse Ventura and his wife Terry are speaking out against the proposed constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

The Venturas urge citizens to "vote no" in a new ad for Minnesotans United for All Families. Ventura says, quote, "the Constitution should not be used to oppress people. The constitution's used to protect people. Love is by far bigger than government can ever be." Ventura says Minnesota should defeat this amendment "to show the rest of the United States that nobody influences Minnesotans on what's right or wrong."

The latest poll shows 48 percent of voters support the marriage amendment and 47 percent oppose it.
