It will be a busy week of Homecoming activities in Pierce County. Ellsworth, Elmwood and Spring Valley high schools all have their Homecomings this week.
It will be a busy week of Homecoming activities in Pierce County. Ellsworth, Elmwood and Spring Valley high schools all have their Homecomings this week.
The main action of Elmwood's Homecoming starts Thursday with the evening pep fest after the Homecoming volleyball game between the Raiders and Elk Mound. The EHS band will play and the different fall prep teams will be introduced. There will be a dance team performance along the inter-class competitions, including the tug-of-war, numbers shout, lip sync and egg toss. The pep fest will wrap-up with Homecoming Court announcement and the crowing of the King and Queen.
The Friday afternoon pep fest include band and dance team performances along the traditional Elmwood pep fest competitions such as the grapefruit and toilet paper passes along with a new hula-hoop pass. There will be other competitions as well along with announcements of the Homecoming court and the football team and class contest winners. The Homecoming parade is set for 2:30 p.m. and the traditional watermelon feed at 3 p.m. The game is 7:00 p.m. as EPC takes on Turtle Lake with the dance to follow.
Ellsworth's Homecoming kicked-off with the king and queen coronation Sunday followed by the annual Powder Puff football game between the senior and junior girls under the lights for bragging rights. Male football players acted as coaches and cheerleaders as the girls got their chance to show their best moves and tricks on the grid iron.
There will be games all week during lunch periods. Door decorating, class competitions and other festive activities were to take place during the week as well.
The Pepfest will take place at 2 p.m. Friday (parents are welcome) at the high school new gymnasium. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. at the high school and will proceed down Main Street. The week culminates with the Ellsworth Panther football team taking on the New Richmond Tigers this Friday at 7 p.m.
Spring Valley High School’s Homecoming is this week and its theme is “Let the Games Begin.”
Activities begin Monday with an assembly led by Student Council Junior Olympics from 8:30-9:35 a.m. JV football hosts Colfax at 5 p.m. and then the pep rally will be held at 7:30 p.m. with a pep band floor show, a performance by the “Vallettes,” skits and the coronation.
Tuesday’s theme is flannel/placid day with the FFA-sponsored Ag Olympics during sixth hour. The volleyball team will host Elk Mound beginning at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday is Mix and Match Day, with Powder Puff football being held during seventh and eighth hours.
Thursday is Class Pride Day as freshmen are asked to wear neon yellow, sophomore blue, juniors turquoise and seniors black. The National Honor Society will be sponsoring a lip sync/ultimate Frisbee during third and fourth hours.
Friday is Spring Valley Pride Day with the parade beginning at 2:50 p.m. The football team hosts Mondovi at 7 p.m. with Vallettes, band and royalty at halftime. A bonfire is scheduled afterward at the football field.
The week concludes with a homecoming dance at the high school from 8-11 p.m.
