Prescott takes fourth in MBC girls golf meet

Prescott High School girls' golf team had its best finish in the 18-hole Middle Border Conference meet since re-joining the league in 2002.

NEW RICHMOND - Prescott High School girls' golf team had its best finish in the 18-hole Middle Border Conference meet since re-joining the league in 2002.

The Cardinals shot a combined 427 this morning on the New Richmond Golf Course to finish in fourth place. PHS was led by Katie Filkins's score of 103, which secured her place among those receiving honorable mention All-Middle Border Conference. She placed 14th in the MBC individual, standings for 2012.

Joining here there was Ellsworth's Karissa Seibel. She finished tied for 14th with Filkins. Seibel has been playing some of her best golf as of late as she shot a 104 in the conference meet. Teammate Aubrey Langer finished with a score of 105, which put her on second team All-MBC.

Osceola's Casey Danielson was the meet medalist as she shot a 69 and was the individual conference champ for the third season in a row. But it was New Richmond winning the team title on their home course as they shot a 328 to secure first place overall with 99 points to Osceola's 90. Osceola took second in the meet with a score of 370, Baldwin-Woodville was third at 417 and overall B-W finished third with 76 points.

Regionals are next Thursday in Osceola. Red more on the meet in next week's print edition of the Herald.
