In the position since late last year, Pete Brooks is no longer director of the Ellsworth Ambulance Service.

Brooks said Tuesday officials of Regions Hospital, with which the post was arranged when he was hired, notified him about his termination that day. Although he came to the local service at a difficult time, he said he felt they tended to dwell on the negatives during his nine-month tenure instead of the positives he believed were accomplished.

“I hope to stay in the health care industry,” he said of his future plans.

The outgoing director understood the local ambulance board has taken the present arrangement for the operation’s management under consideration and is to make a decision about its continuation or a change.
