DURAND - Spring Valley's Breanna Colbenson ran in the Durand Invitational prep cross country meet Thursday, comfortably winning first place in a time of 15:00.

Colbenson had sat out a meet Tuesday in Mondovi due to a hamstring injury but was back Thursday and won with a :48 second spread over Colfax's Dakota Fogerty.

Spring Valley ran a mostly JV squad for both the boys and girls races. Ellsworth's girls had its best showing of the season, finishing third out of 12 teams. The Panthers best time was put in by Kennedy Kowalchyk.

Ellsworth's boys would have done better but a DQ of one of the team's runners pushed them in the team standings. Lucas Green still finished in the top for the Panthers.

EPC had to full teams run in the meet. McKayla Brunner and Noah Wells had the best runs for the boys' and girls' teams.

Ellsworth hosts its own invitational meet Tuesday starting at 4:30 p.m.
