New Hastings bridge in place and lifting up
The main span for the new Hastings bridge was moved into place Sunday evening, and the lift of the 6.5 million pound structure began overnight.

HASTINGS - The main span for the new Hastings bridge was moved into place Sunday evening, and the lift of the 6.5 million pound structure began overnight.
Things really got moving at around midnight as the 545-foot span was slowly lifted 50 feet.
Once the lift was over, crews were to get to work to secure it in place. Once that is done, the bridge will reopen to traffic, which is expected to take place sometime Monday.
