Two people were transported to area hospitals early Tuesday following a rollover accident that closed U.S. Hwy. 10 for a time.
Brian Shilts, 41, Ellsworth, was westbound on USH 10 and attempting to make a right-hand turn into a driveway when he was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Sarah Leonard, 39, Ellsworth. The accident happened around 7:20 a.m., in front of W9098 US Highway 10 in the town of Trimbelle.
Leonard's vehicle overturned and came to rest on the roadway, according to Pierce County Sheriff's deputy Tonette May. Shilts' vehicle came to rest in the north ditch.
Leonard was transported to Regions Hospital with undetermined injuries, where she was treated and released, a spokesperson said Wednesday. Shilts was taken to River Falls Area Hospital.
May said Ellsworth EMS and Fire assisted on scene. The accident remains under investigation.
