(Minneapolis, MN) -- New York's C.C. Sabathia struck out ten Twins batters over eight innings of two-run ball as the Yankees topped the Twins 8-2 yesterday at Target Field.
Robinson Cano had a two-run double and Curtis Granderson a two-run triple in a six-run third inning for New York, who took two of three in the set. Brian Duensing took the loss for Minnesota after starter Samuel Deduno left in the second inning with an eye irritation.
Matt Carson and Pedro Florimon singled in runs for the Twins, who are off today.

The Tigers have moved past the White Sox for first place in the AL Central. The Tigers took sole possession of first place when they beat the Royals and the White Sox lost to the Indians. Both teams are back in action today, with Detroit holding a one-game lead for the division crown. The Tigers come to the Twin Cities tomorrow to begin a three-game series with the Twins at Target Field.
