For the first time in the long history of Prescott High School, a girls' golf team will qualify for the sectionals. The Cardinals did so by finishing fourth at the WIAA Division 2 Osceola Regional Thursday.

Prescott shot a 436, six strokes ahead of Luck/Unity's 18-hole score of 442. The Cardinals were led by Katie Filkins score of 96, which placed her ninth overall.

Osceola's Casey Danielson dominated her home course of Krooked Kreek, shooting a 65 to win medalist honors. This was just 24 hours after the Chieftain junior helped the U.S. team win the Junior Ryder Cup over Europe in Chicago. Osceola won the regional title with a score of 356. Baldwin-Woodville was second at 377 and Somerset third at 433.

While Ellsworth didn't have enough golfers to qualify as a team, the Panthers are sending their "team" of Aubrey Langer and Karissa Seibel to sectionals. Langer had a very good day of golfing shooting an 86 while Seibel made the cut with a score of 103 as the last individual qualifier from a non-qualifying team. Langer will be playing in her second straight sectional meet.

The sectional meet is in Hayward Tuesday at the Hayward Golf Club. The meet begins at 9 a.m.
