PRESCOTT - Prescott and Durand's prep football teams were tied at 7-7 in the fourth quarter. But there Durand scored a pair of touchdowns which helped them win their first close game of the season Friday 21-7.

While the loss spoiled Prescott's Homecoming celebrations it take away from the effort put forth against the state's sixth best team in Division 4. The Cardinals' defense made two goaline stands and forced Durand into a pair of missed field goal attempts. They also foiled a fake punt on a fourth down and two play on Durand's own 34 yard-line. From that stop PHS scored it's lone touchdown, a two-yard run by Harry Cutler.

But the Panthers turned the game around midway through the fourth quarter with booming 40-plus yard punt from Jake Weber which dramatically altered the field position. Durand eventually got the ball back at midfield and scored a few plays later with Jake Biesterveld scoring on a 48-yard run. A sack and fumble deep in Prescott territory led to an 18-yard TD run by Bisterveld. He also set up Durand's first touchdown on a two-yard run by Weber with an interception.

Prescott (3-3 overall and 2-3 in the Middle Border Conference) is still in the playoff hunt despite the loss but now win its next two games, both on the road, at Ellsworth and Amery.
