MILWAUKEE - Marco Estrada struck out 11 Houston Astros while pitching eight shutout innings in Saturday’s 9-5 Milwaukee win. That victory keeps the slim playoff hopes alive for the defending National League Central Division Champions.
St. Louis lost in extra innings to Washington, 6-4, but the Brewers still have to win all four of their remaining games and hope the Cardinals lose four in a row. Corey Hart dealt with a foot injury by pounding his 29th and 30th home runs – so he could jog around the bases. Hart had four runs batted in. He and Aramis Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs in the second inning. Norichika Aoki and Ramirez each had three hits in the win. Houston hit three home runs in a five-run ninth inning rally, but the Astros still lost their 106th game of the season.
The win guarantees the Brewers will finish with at least a .500 record. They have won 27 of their last 38 games.
