A Beldenville man was charged Tuesday in Pierce County Circuit Court with vehicular homicide and reckless driving causing bodily harm.

George D. Budd, 54, N7652 650th St., is scheduled to make his first court appearance 10:45 a.m., Oct. 23. Both charges are felonies.

The charges stem from a March 17 accident in which Budd is accused of causing the death of Julie Nelson, 47, Hammond.

Budd was driving and attempting to turn into his driveway around 8:10 p.m. that night when he told Sheriff's deputies he didn't see Nelson and her husband, Glen, who was driving the motorcycle.

Both Nelson were wearing a helmet and were ejected. They were transferred to Regions Hospital where Julie died the next morning. Glen was seriously injured, but is recovering.

According to the criminal complaint, testing of Budd's blood done by the State, showed a .11, above the legal limit.
