Gophers' women's hockey team routs St. Cloud State

MINNESOTA - The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota women's hockey team scored three goals in the first period and three in the second for an easy 7-1 win over St. Cloud State in its WCHA opener at Ridder Arena Friday.
Amanda Kessel had two goals for the Golden Gophers and five other players scored for the U as well. Kessel also had two assists. Megan Bozek had a goal and two assists and Maryanne Menefee had a goal and assist.
The Gophers split time in goal with Noora Raty and Amanda Leveille and both combined for 13 saves. The U outshot the Huskies 44-14 to improve to 3-0 overall.
