Oct. 6, 2012: Chase, shoot-out with Eau Claire police leads to death of suspect
Western Wisconsin News-- An armed suspect was shot to death in the parking lot of a Culver's Restaurant in Eau Claire Friday evening.
EAU CLAIRE - An armed suspect was shot to death in the parking lot of a Culver's Restaurant in Eau Claire Friday evening.
A high-speed chase between police and the suspect started in Altoona and ended near Hastings Way in Eau Claire. The suspect had crashed his vehicle, fled on foot and reportedly tried forcibly enter a home as well. Then the suspect stole another vehicle and tried to flee again before being surrounded in the parking lot by Eau Claire Police officers. The suspect reportedly fired on the officers who fired right back, taking down the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital and later died.
The suspect is not being identified yet and the incident remains under investigation by local and state authorities.
