Outdoor News-- The final public input session on the future of Wisconsin’s elk herd will be held tomorrow night at Wildwood Lodge in Pewaukee.
PEWAUKEE - The final public input session on the future of Wisconsin’s elk herd will be held tomorrow night at Wildwood Lodge in Pewaukee.
The Department of Natural Resources and its partner groups are considering some changes to the current elk management plan. Those changes could include increasing the size of the range for the elk in norther Wisconsin and possibly establishing a second her in the Black River State Forest area.
Wild elk were established in Ashland County 17 years ago near Clam Lake. The herd has reportedly grown from the two dozen introduced to approximately 150.
