Forest Lake couple dies in BWCAW after canoe capsizes

(Alton Lake, MN) -- Authorities think cold, windy conditions this past weekend may have caused a canoe to capsize in the BWCAW, leaving a couple dead.

Reports say the bodies of 55-year-old Thomas Pineault and 51-year-old Cynthia Pineault of Forest Lake were found by passing canoeists on Sunday.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office is calling the scene at Alton Lake a drowning and no foul play is suspected.
