The Milwaukee Bucks won their exhibition opener against Cleveland last night, 97-80 in Canton Ohio. The Bucks pulled away in the second quarter, and they led by double figures for most of the second half. Milwaukee back-up guard Beno Udrih suffered a head injury when it hit the knee of his teammate Larry Sanders in the first quarter. Udrih was face down on the floor for several minutes, but he walked to the locker room under his own power. He was taken to a hospital where a C-T scan showed no evidence of a concussion. Udrih returned to the arena, and flew back home with his teammates after playing for just 45 seconds. He said he just got a bump on the back of his head. Six Milwaukee players scored in double figures, led by guards Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis with 15 apiece. The Bucks blocked eight shots, and center Samuel Dalembert had three. The Cavaliers committed 22 turnovers, which led to 26 Milwaukee points. C-J Miles scored 18 for Cleveland, and Kyrie Irving – the N-B-A’s top rookie last season – had 16. The Cavs’ top draft pick, Dion Walters, was benched in the fourth quarter for taking an off-balance 23-foot shot. Coach Byron Scott said he drew up a play, and Walters messed it up. Cleveland was playing a night after it defeated an Italian team. The Bucks will play their second exhibition game at home on Saturday night against Detroit.
