Enrollments in area school districts are now mostly higher compared to last year at this time.
According to reports last week from the outlying districts in Pierce County about their official third-Friday-in-September student numbers to the state, all but Spring Valley gained in student population for the comparison. That district was down by just one.
Public schools are required to provide state education officials with this information annually on the date which was Sept. 21 this year and it’s used for calculating the amount of state aid they receive, among other purposes.
