More maulings given out Gopher hockeys teams Saturday

It was another night of big wins for the top-ranked University of Minnesota men's and women's hockey teams.

The No. 2 ranked U men again blasted Michigan State 7-1 at Mariucci Arena in front of a sell-out 10,000 fans. The U scored four goals in the first and two more in the second period. Seven different players all scored goals with Erik Haula and Kyle Rau both scoring goals and getting assists. Zach Budish had two assists MSU had just 11 shots on goal and winning goalie Adam Wilcox made 10 saves. With No. 1 ranked Boston College being upset 3-1 by Northeastern last night, the U should find itself atop the college hockey rankings next week.

The No. 1 ranked Golden Gopher women's team will stay that way after 6-0 win over St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y. Amanda Kessel had a goal and an assist and Kelly Terry had a goal and two assists. The U split time in goal between Noora Raty and Amanda Leveille with Raty getting 21 saves and Leveille making six saves. The U improves to 6-0-0 on the season.
