AFL-CIO announces boycott of American Crystal Sugar
Minnesota News-- It remains a stalemate over sugar. Moorhead-based American Crystal Sugar says its final offer remains on the table in a contract dispute which has lasted more than 14 months.
MOORHEAD, Minn. - It remains a stalemate over sugar. Moorhead-based American Crystal Sugar says its final offer remains on the table in a contract dispute which has lasted more than 14 months.
On Monday, the AFL-CIO called for a national boycott of the company's products in an effort to, in the union's words: "encourage Crystal Sugar to finally respect its workers." Greg Wahl of Hawley says he threw out all his Crystal Sugar products and encourages others to do the same. Wahl is among many picketing major grocery stores today.
About 1,300 workers remain locked out and as of now, there are no plans for either side to return to the bargaining table.
