In a verdict reached Oct. 4, a jury awarded nearly $150,000 in a case involving a woman who was injured Dec. 27, 2010, in a motor vehicle accident.

The decision involved a lawsuit filed by Amy M. and Douglas Lucht, N5593 950th St., Ellsworth, against AMCO Insurance Company. Amy Lucht was injured in an accident allegedly caused by the negligence of Elizabeth A. Knopf, who was insured by AMCO.

The award for Amy Lucht was divided this way: $6,817 for past medical expenses; $25,000 for future health care expense; $27,500 for past pain, suffering and disability; and $50,000 for future pain, suffering and disability.

Jurors also awarded $40,000 to her husband, divided this way: $15,000 for past loss of society and companionship, and $25,000 for future loss of society and companionship.

All claims for underinsured motorist benefits brought against the Luchts’ insurance company, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, were dismissed before the trial began.
