The road to a state championship begins this weekend for 224 Wisconsin high school football teams. Ninety-five games will be played tonight in seven divisions. Seventeen other first-round contests are planned for tomorrow. The field includes 42 teams that were undefeated in their conference play. And for the first time, there are schools with records below .500 in the post-season. Stratford has the most titles with seven. Edgar and Lancaster have six. All seven of last year’s champions are back, and they’re playing in the divisions in which they won their 2011 titles. Kenosha Bradford won the Division-One crown a year ago. The other champs were Waunakee in Division-Two, West De Pere in D-Three, Wrightstown in Division-Four, Colby in Division-Five, Fond du Lac Springs in D-Six, and Greenwood-Granton in Division-Seven. The two finalists in each division will square off at the state football finals on November 15th-and-16th at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
