One of the oldest football adages is ‘good teams know how to win’.

Well, the Ellsworth junior varsity team must be a good team, because all they’ve done is win. The team, comprised of sophomores, recently completed their third straight undefeated season.

Coach Chad Whalen has coached the sophomore crew all three years.

“They really enjoy playing the game of the football,” he said. “They do what they are told. They have very good chemistry and understand the team concept.

“I’ve been really fortunate to have been with them these there years.”

This year’s junior varsity team played the other seven teams in the Middle Border Conference and with the exception of the last game against Prescott, the games weren’t close (Ellsworth had to come back in the fourth quarter to defeat its Highway 10 rival, 40-28).
