Ex-fellow Bay City ball players reunited after 64 years
A chance encounter between friends and family led to a reunion this fall for Max "Bud" Sanford, age 89, and Lou Chicquette, 88.
Ex-fellow ball players reunited after 64 years

PRESCOTT—The year was 1948 and Max “Bud” Sanford was still traveling by train from his then-South St. Paul, Minn., home to play ball with the Bay City Bombers ball team.
Lou Chicquette, a Bay City native and also a team member, said Wednesday Sanford had become aware of the team because he then had relatives living in Bay City. In fact, he even lived with a family in the community part-time himself.
“He played ball any chance he could get,” Chicquette remembered last week about his friend from the Twin Cities. A chance encounter between friends and family led to a reunion this fall for the pair.
