MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Bucks will open their NBA regular season tonight at Boston.
Bucks’ forward Mike Dunleavy says the Celtics are one of a handful of teams with a chance to win the league title. But he said the Bucks had a good week of practice, and they’re ready to put up a challenge. The Celtics – coached by former Marquette guard Doc Rivers – lost their season opener at Miami on Tuesday night. Coach Scott Skiles says nobody wants to go 0-2 – and the Celts will be under additional pressure to win their home opener. Boston lost former Bucks’ guard Ray Allen to the Heat this summer. But they still have a bevy of talent in Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Rajon Rondo.
For Milwaukee, it will be the first real test of its beefed up front-court. The Bucks traded for shot-blocking specialist Samuel Dalembert, and they signed backup center Joel Przybilla while re-upping with 6-10 forward Ersan Ilyasova. Second-year forward Tobias Harris has made a case to start at small forward, at least while Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is still out following off-season knee surgery.
Milwaukee will have its regular season home opener tomorrow night against Cleveland.
