Gopher puck teams get wins over instate rivals

The women's team clobbered Minnesota-Duluth 4-1 at AMSOIL Arena. After a scoreless first period the No.1 ranked Golden Gophers scored three goal in the second and put the game away with Megan Bozek's goal late in the third. Maryanne Menefee scored twice for the U and Amanda Kessel had two assists. Winning goalie Noora Raty made 23 saves. The Gophers still remain undefeated at 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the WCHA.

The No. 2 ranked Minnesota's men's team edged Minnesota State 3-2 in front of nearly 10,000 fans at Mariucci Arena as Zach Budish scored the game winner at 5:40 into the third period on a power play goal. In fact all of the Golden Gophers' goals were on the power play, the other two scored by Travis Boyd and Nate Schmidt. The Gophers were 3-for-6 on the power play. Schmidt also had an assist and Kyle Rau had two assists. Winning goalie Adam Wilcox made 23 saves.
